Clinical, Academic, and Research Experience:

    Dr. Spira is the Director of Health Psychology at the Naval Medical Center, San Diego, and serves as a supervisor in the internship and residency programs. He also serves as an adjunct faculty member for the California School of Professional Psychology. He is a Diplomat in Clinical Health Psychology with the American Board of Professional Psychology and is a Fellow of the American Board of Forensic Medicine. Dr. Spira has authored or co-authored articles and chapters in books and journals, and has presented at the Proceedings of the Society of Behavioral Medicine, Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine, and the International Meeting of the Society of Behavioral Medicine. He is the past recipient of the MS Foundation Research Scientist Award and the Institute for Global Conflict and Cooperation Reward.
