Clinical, Academic, and Research Experience:

    Dr. Stalcup started his professional career in the field of pediatrics, where he distinguished himself as a clinician and teacher. He was named Teacher of the Year in 1985 while serving in the Department of Pediatrics at the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University. His entry into the field of addictions and substance abuse began in 1987 when he became the medical director for the Drug Detoxification, Treatment and Aftercare Project at the Haight Ashbury Free Clinic in San Francisco. Since that time, he has worked extensively with other health and law enforcement professionals in understanding and treating addictions. Dr. Stalcup has served as a consultant for numerous public health departments, universities, medical centers, and courts. He has been a presenter for the World Affairs Council (keynote address), the American Society of Addiction Medicine, and the Drug Enforcement Agency, and has provided expert testimony to the California State Assembly. He is currently the Director of the New Leaf Treatment Center in Concord, California.
