Clinical, Academic, and Research Experience:

    Dr. Schuckit is a world-renowned clinical researcher in the field of substance abuse and dependence. He has authored two books on drug and alcohol abuse, and has authored or co-authored over 430 articles/chapters in referenced journals and texts. He was the chairman of the DSM-IV Work Group on Alcohol and Substance Abuse, and has served on the editorial boards of over nineteen journals, including Alcohol; American Journal of Drug and Alcohol Abuse; Addiction; and Journal of Substance Abuse. Dr. Schuckit has been recognized as the Distinguished Clinical Research Scholar on Addictions by the American Society of Addiction Medicine (2001), and received the Distinguished Scholar Award from the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry (2000). As Director of the Alcohol and Drug Treatment Program at the San Diego Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Dr. Schuckit has been involved in identifying the biological factors associated with abuse and dependence, and has developed state of the art assessment and treatment protocols for his patients.
